Wow I wouldn't have expected that in NYC. I think there's still a lot more racism everywhere than most people want to admit. I think you should just ignore it, if he makes you happy, it doesn't really matter what other people think.

If you can't handle other people's scrutiny, maybe you should get out of the relationship now before you get married, because he isn't getting any blacker and you aren't getting any whiter. If you really love each other, that will transcend any rude comments or obnoxious stares you get from other people. And as the years go by, the old racist fogies will die and the younger generation will take over. A younger, much more tolerant and open-minded generation.

I get those looks also, my girlfriend is white and I'm hispanic and we go through the same thing. Just ignore people sweetie, if they judge you base on the color of your skin and not your intelligence and character they are just plain ignorants. If you love him, who cares what people think.
