If it was closer, safer, I wouldn't stink when I got there, weather was good, etc. then I'd love to ride my bike to work.

However, because it is too far, too dangerous, no showers at work, and weather can be too cold, too snowy, too icy, too hot, too wet, too much thunder/lightening/hail, etc. I drive to work.

NOTE: Last year when gas prices were sky high, I considered buying a scooter to get to work. Taking in the cost of the scooter vs the savings in gas, and assuming I drove it to work every work day with no vacations, no traveling, no bad weather, etc. then it would have taken 7 years to pay off the scooter. This did not include insurance on it either. Buy the time I paid it off, it would be time to get another one.

We drive a car because there is no public transport. The nearest railway is 40 miles away and as for riding a bike the terrain is very hilly .Can you explain how humans can alter the weather. If they can why are some countries suffering droughts.

No, it's a 15 min drive (mostly on a hwy) but too far to ride a bike and I'm a teacher so I carry a lot of stuff.
