My 87 toyota (R22 engine) keeps overheating and losing water. A friend had driven it and probably let it run too hot (first time its overheated) and at the same time the fuel pump went out (pump diaphram probably melted). I looked in the radiator and saw no flow so I pulled the thermostat. Now there is flow but it still overheats. I run it and look under the truck and (except for a bit of a drip from the exhaust) I cant find a leak anywhere, especailly not enough to account for an almost empty radiator after about 40+ miles. What is going on? Its hard to crank now (I had to adjust the timing to get it running the other day), acts like its flooded, but after it cranks it really doesnt act any different than normal i.e. runs all 4 cyl., doesnt sputter, no power loss, etc. The only real difference is once it gets hot it tends to want to shut down at a stop/slow (of course). Im fairly good with engines but this has me baffled. should I suspect a warped head......on a toyota 4x4? seems...?
