flash drive unrecognizable?

this year i bought an hp laptop that will not recognize my flash drive .
i have tried like 20 different flash drives so the flash drive is not the problem it is the actual laptop. if anyone can give me any directions on how to fix this problem it will be extremely appreciated
if it helps when i go to the universal bus controler it says that there is an unknown device there and it also says that everything is working properly

try a brand new flash drive , if you dont remove / close down flash drive properly it will destroy flash drive or usb port

you just cant pull the flash drive out of usb port !!!!!!!!!!
