Yamaha WR250R or KTM 450 exc for on-road/off-road motorcycle?

i am almost 15 and i am looking for a bike to buy next spring if i have the money. it will be used as my first road bike when i get my license. its between those two bikes. i like ktm because i owned a ktm before, but i have never ridden a yamaha. i love speed and stuff like that. i currently have a 1988 honda xr200r that is my clunker that i ride every weekend at a slate pit, but the bike does not have any lights anymore and i dont want to put really any money into it to make it street legal again. the honda i too slow for me because i am used to a 2 stroke ktm.

they are both more of road bikes than on road but if you were going to legalize one, id say the ktm. the suspension is stiffer for the road and jumps, and who doesnt love ktms
