What is the appeal of outdoor music festivals?

Can someone please explain to me? It just doesn't appeal to me for some reason, maybe because I don't like insects, have never learned to appreciate camping, and have not yet found my inner hippie. I'd like to attend the Pemberton music festival in BC this summer, but am having trouble getting excited about it.

    Thanks for your comments.

You are more free to enjoy yourself, and not squished like sardines at some mosh concert.

No physical limitations of being within a certain space.

    Outdoor music festivals are AMAZING!

    - you get to see like 10 of your favorite bands in one day
    - you can walk around and grab something to eat, whereas in an indoor venue you are virtually rooted to your spot.
    - you can get a tan
    - you can meet your favourite band as they usually hang out by their merch tent
    - it is not as crowded and packed as indoor venues.
    - you can meet new people
    - you can leave the place and come back as you wish
    - you can breathe fresh air!!
    - you can get awesome pics of your favourite bands when it is really sunny, instead of dealing with crappy lighting in indoor venues
    - usually some booths give out free stuff!!

I like the fact that is in open fresh air. You are not packed into a venue breath nasty sweating air. The fresh air can do some good! Plus the sun is nice, then when it goes down, the stars and moon is amazing!!

I feel the same way as you.. there's nothing appealing about camping out in the heat with a bunch of drunks.. despite the good music!

Because you can stretch out, bring a picnic, get up and walk around, and if you don't like it you can find another stage with music you like a little better...
put on some bug spray and some sunscreen and you should be fine.
