How can I hide the odometer reading in my 2006 Ford Explorer?

I don't want to roll it back or alter, just hide it when the father in law looks at the dashboard for how many miles are on my vehicle.

WHY would your father-in-law care how many miles are on your car? IF you are old enough to have a father-in-law you are obviously old enough to get married. WHY is it anyone's business how many miles are on your car UNLESS you are attempting to sell that car to that person?

    Put tape over the display.

No other way other than physically blocking it without violating federal law.
