Do I need to have a sim card in my iPhone to jailbreak/unlock it?

I know about running the "blackra1n" and "BlackSn0w" applications to unlock/jailbreak the iPhone, but do I need to have a sim card in it while I do it? Or does it just need to be connected to iTunes?

Yes. You definitely need a SIM card to jailbreak or unlock an iPhone. Anyway it depends upon what method are you preferring for the jailbreak or unlock process. I use to unlock my iPhone models without jailbreak using remote unlocking service. I use to get the remote unlocking service from MobileUnlockSolutions.com This method of unlocking does require a SIM card.
