Thread: Samsung SGH-Z500 complete unlock solution

Look.. The DB9 connector should NOT be connected in ANY way with ANYTHING but the COM1 port on the computer. And on the DB9 you should just connect pin 2 with pin 3.. just solder a cable between them or whatever so that they are connected to eachother.

How to use it:

Connect it on COM1 before you start winimei. Start winimei, choose your country and press OK. Then press unlock. If you run something in winimei besides unlock like read settings to check the connection is working then quit winimei and disconnect the DB9. Then reconnect it and start winimei again.

The usb cable should be connected all the time. Make sure you have installed the usb/modem drivers first.

My question to you is whether it's absolutely necessary in Winimei to choose a "model" to which you can find your operator i.e the operator to which the Z500 is locked?

Let me elaborate. In Winimei you can choose between three models: Z105; Z105T; Z105U. My operator Telia cannot be found in the list "buyer" if you choose "Z105". The only Swedish operator under that list is Vodafone (I quess the abbreviation "VDS" stands for Vodafone Sweden). But if I instead choose "Z105U" under "Model", you can then find Telia "TLA" on the list of "Buyers".

I'm asking this rather foolish question since I don't want to "spoil" my phone by making a bad choice.

Thank you, but I just solved my problem. I now have an unlocked Z500 . Apperently you weren't supposed to install everything in the CDMADriver-catalog, just the setup in the 'drivers'-catalog. That did the trick for me!

Hi. I DESPERATELY need to unlock my new Samsung E720 from Vodafone. I want to use my O2 card in it. I've tried the *#9998*3323# code, with no luck. Can ANYONE help??!! I have the cable, but if it's a matter of software installation, I'll need guidance!!

I just got a new z500 but I get a lock error when trying to unlock it.
WinIMEI finds the USB port and everything but I got FAILED!..

Just want to confirm that the unlock WORKS!
