bell Fibe TV intro in toronto

just got invite to sign up for new fibre optic tv,

promoted as the greatest thing since black + white,
    promoted as better than rogers,

    vague on full details,
they encourage your to subscribe on good faith,

(a skeptic would point out that bell can't even spell fibre correctly)

a cynic would ask if this going to as great as bell wants you to believe????

They don't spell fibre correctly because they don't want to. It's not fibre, they just want to fool the unwashed into assuming that it is.

Interesting, when they originally called me, the marketing rep must have spent over 20 minutes discussing the details.
I have no complaints. Better than Rogers? certainly the hardware is!

Half full or half empty, your choice.

No you're not... You're getting Bell Aliant's fibre, which is different than Fibe TV.

Are they not both fibre optic tv which is what Dormie was asking about?
I doubt there is any difference other than the name.

No, they are not both fibre optic TV. Yours is. The other one is fibre to the neighbourhood, then copper from there. Bell calls it Fibe TV to try to confuse people into thinking they're getting true fibre to the home, like you will be.

bell Fibe TV intro in toronto

We have dedicated sub forums for Bell Aliant IPTV and Fibe TV (Bell Entertainment Service (IPTV and Condo)). Those are probably the best places to learn about and discuss the specific services.

Bell and Aliant are 2 separate companies and have different TV platforms. Bell in Ontario and Quebec uses the Mediaroom software. I'm not sure what Aliant uses.

Almost all telco TV services use fibre to the node or fibre to the home. The few exceptions are those homes that are close enough to be connected directly to the Central Office. Other than that, there are a variety of software platforms that can be used.

@travisc, Fibe TV is Bell's product name for it's Mediaroom TV platform. I expect they will use the same name whether it involves fibre to the node or fibre to the home (like Quebec City).
