Well, theres Fido but we own them
^ since you work for Rogers... I am not satisfied at the price you guys are charging us... I want to cancel my contract... what will you offer me to retain my business? ... everyone do this... eventually they will give up... $60/month x3yrs x couple hundred people = big $ for them!
Well the term "Crackberry" actually fits for us in Rogers world!! We spend the same amount for our BB "fix" per month as probably a real crack (drug) user pays for his "fix" a month )
Yeah GSM is a real good thing but I worked for Rogers for 2 years and a half and had to explain why Rogers in Quebec is not able to cover the half of the coverage from Bell and Telus....
And since their CSR are really nice that was cool to speak with them ( sarcasm here )
Don't know if any of you speak french but the Rogers CSR are not :P
Now I work for Telus and I got a BB for free with a free data plan and my boss pays my talk plan since I'm the BB specialist
Bah, Rogers still cover 94% of Canada's population. Who cares about that small village in the middle of nowhere! Yeah Bell or Telus might cover them but the quality is not there. I know, i was with Telus before plus with Bell & Telus ..the data speed goes with the distance from the antenna.
I heard canada cell phone is expensive because we got hardly any couriers, less competition. Im the USA, there are so many providers that they compete with lower prices!
By the way the blackberry 8800 is selling for 499.99US CASH no contract as we have it for 669.99 with 1 yr!
Pretty sad eh?
It's $45 for .5MB AND 150 minutes. not just .5, it's $25 for just the .5MB.
But yes, data in canada is very expensive compared to our southern neighbours, and overseas. Mostly because Canada just introduced LNP (WNP to some) and our cellular market is fairly young in some aspects. Also because our population is so wide spread it costs our carriers alot more than TMO for example, more land to cover less customers. Now that LNP is here, let's sit back and watch the prices drop.
And yes, stop whining on forums, with customer service and in our stores about the prices, we can't do anything about it, goto the top to get to the bottom of it.
I could not say it better dtx hehe
The thing is though, 0.5mb may seem low but BB compress much greater data than the regular GPRS service..
However, I fully agree the BB Data Plans are way overpriced.. I know people in third world countries paying less :P
