"OK" what will it do for me?

Today out on a lone ride, I noticed the 'ole C-50 seemed a little weak in a headwind @ 55 mph in 5th.

This bike usually has plenty of "oomph" for me around town (I'm 240 pounds and 73" in height) yet today the the 800 just seemed maxed in this windy situation.

Will the "Fuel Commander" or other add-on FI mapper give this bike more actual HP's at the top?

This motor is just short of 410 miles on the ODO total.
It climbs steep hills pretty good in second\third gear.

The bike will perform better as it breaks in. About 3,000 miles it is really loose.
Remember the rev limiter on the C50 is 8,500 RPM. No constant throttle for the first 1,000 miles. Don't baby it, just don't log or run at a constant speed for a long period.

But having said that, "Ride it like you stole it".

I agree with Blackie....mine has about 10,500 miles on her and it will loosen up alot. Not only that but the exhaust note gets better also.

    +1

I was riding with someone new this weekend. He was riding a brand new SV-1000. Wow, what a nice bike that is too.

I kept up with him very well through the twisties and straights. In fact, he was very surprised with how well my M handled the same turns he was taking.

I have over 5k miles and it's running really well. The sound is very throaty from the stock pipes...and the power isn't a problem under any conditions.

I had a K&N air filter and a Techclusion FI installed at 1st service,
600k, I am now at just under 28,000.
The bike runs great, the stock pipes are just right, don't upset my neighbors and
when I give it throttle a very pleasant growl.

I also took the 'cheapo' option, and bought the TFI unit - no complaints, and I feel I spent the right amount of money to achieve what I wanted.
I have a modded intake, and drilled pipes - a slightly bigger growl!

Easy to set up, and no maintenance! after 8500 km, no worries, just performance!

I would certainly get past the breakin period and possibly past 1k miles before you start to worry about performance. I've got 2700 miles on my C90. I can take her up to 70mph in 2nd gear, so if you're looking for power at 55mph, get out of 5th gear!
