    Welcome Back Golgo!

Ahem. Thought I should announce that the TV series has aired, and is subbed, and I'm downloading it as we speak. I probably won't get around to watching it until Tuesday or Wednesday though. I hate it when the demanRAB of real life call.

    Welcome Back Golgo!

Well this is cool as hell. I'm liking the music a bit too much.

Need to check the anime movies. I know I know.

Oh, and check the Sonny Chiba live action movie too. Fun.

    Welcome Back Golgo!

Yeah, sponsubs have completely given up the ghost. BSS sometime do that thing where you have to wait 2 months and then 4 episodes come out in the next couple of days.

    Annoying as hell that.

Ugh, I don't want to watch BSS subs, but waiting for episode 3 is extremely painful.

10 was a mix bag episode in which Golgo was up to his old tricks again, sent to kill a mafia boss which he did with success he later found out he had killed a thug who had plastic surgery to make himself look like the boss, to make matters even more strange the mafia boss them asked Golgo to kill the guy who had hired Golgo to kill him.

The only sub so far is really low quality, think I'll be waiting for a better group. Saw the first couple minutes though, looks cool.

    Welcome Back Golgo!

Now for the long awaited gun-commentary.

First, fun fact. The XM29 uses both a traditional and bullpup configuration. However, the actual assualt rifle part uses the traditional layout since it's really a modified G36 which later became the now defunct XM8. Only the semi-automatic 20 mm (later 25 mm) grenade launcher uses the bullpup layout. Had they used the grenade launcher, it probably would have helped against Golgo especially with the airburst feature.

Anyways because of the layout, the assault rifle part would have a much lower range than the M16 or the F2000 since it only has a 250 mm (9.8 in) barrel compared to the 400 mm (15.6 in) barrel on the F2000 and the 508 mm (20 in) barrel on the M16. In fact, the M16 should have technically been able to outshoot both guns without the match-grade barrel due to its barrel length alone.

The M16 can actually use the 5.56 mm NATO to its fullest potential because of that 20 in barrel which gives it an effective range of 550 m (600 yd). A barrel longer than that would be a waste due to the case capacity and the ballistics of the 5.56 mm cartridge. To extend the range, another more powerful cartridge would have to be used like the 7.62 mm NATO. This should not to be confused with the 7.62x39 mm cartridge used in the AK-47 since it actually has a range worse than the 5.56 mm NATO due to the poor ballistics of the 7.62 mm bullet.

    Welcome Back Golgo!

Epic fail. Please go jump into the nearest well.

Spoon Subs did an excellent job. The only issue I have with Spoon is that they tend to go astray soon after picking up a show.

Anyways, about the episode. The studio did great with the artwork and atmosphere of the manga. I have pretty much zero gripes other than the opening doesn't really fit well to the series.
