    Bell Remote (Eats Batteries)

There are a few of these UHF Pro Remotes that do this. Is this a recent thing.?

It is like 3 months old, so definately under warranty still. Visions stated they will replace it free of charge. Will find out tonight....

Just to add, are you sure it isn't being placed somewhere that is causing the buttons to be pressed? Like between sections of the sofa?

If for some reason you do end up having to buy a remote instead of getting a replacement, I would suggest looking on eBay before buying one in a store. I just recently bought an extra remote for my 9242 and paid $8 including shipping. Yes, it i sused, but stores will want $50 or more for a new one.

No - I think it's always been like this - about 4 or 5 years

Unless the dog is turning the channels while we are gone, then that is the only way it would be used.

This is normal for some rechargeables......

If you are NOT using rechargeables, then the Remote is defective.

These remotes don't use that much power, and should not be draining FOUR batteries that super fast. Normally; I would immediately suggest calling Bell and explaining your remote situation, IF this were a new remote. Try anyway, see what they suggest or do.

You shouldn't ever have to change batteries for remotes like Bell's, or most remotes for electronics as you've been doing so, ever. There are those other remotes, like from Logitech, etc. that you sit in a cradle to charge up though.

I've seen customers with original legacy remotes that work perfectly, and then I've seen customers with badly and mistreated remotes from fairly new systems. So as far as wear'n tear, maybe you're just sleeping on it...and draining the batteries. Who know's, equipment can just plain fail sometimes too.

    Get a new one! GL

The original UHF remote that came with my 9200 would go through a set of batteries in about 2 weeks for me. By the time I realized this was not 'normal' it was off warranty. I'm certain there is an internal short causing a small constant power leak.

Adding up the price of batteries, I decided to replace it from KuSat (cheapest I could find new) and lo and behold have not replaced those batteries in well over a year!!! Well worth the investment.

Batteries should last at least six months in Bell remotes. I've had some last 2 years in 9200 UHF remotes. That depends on use but 2 or 3 days is way out of line. I've seen new replacement remotes for about $35 and used ones much cheaper on eBay. I think Bell charges about $65.

I get from 8-12 months on a battery usually, depending on if its the battery for the main TV/receiver's remote control or for a TV that isn't used as much.
