My boyfriend is 23 years old and 6' 4" and around 190-200 pounds and he has beeing having runny stool for about a month now. He says the blood in the stool isnt much at all, but that still worrys me.He has has stool test that came back normal, blood test that came back normal. He doctor doesnt seem to know. His doctor gave me a couple different medicines that really hasnt helped. Should he go to a different one?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please help us out, please!
I'd go back to the first doctor and tell him the meds aren't working - if he seems stumped ask for a referral to a different doc or specialist.
A small amount of bright red blood can be from something simple like irritation from the diarrhea.
Aww...thank you so much. That means a lot to me! I will keep everyone updated.
Well the doctor said he has Ulcerative Colitis
yeah he says its only sometimes.
i have the same problems and uninsured and the great state of michigan has a freeze on their medical help ! i have not got to see a dr about this but i have become unable to leave the safety of a bathroom witch has caused my severe depression to come back including the big panic attacks! i use to take 2mg xanax 3x daily and learned to stop taking that after some time ! but now that they are back i cant remember what it was that made me not have the panic attacks..... im so lost i have become suicidal and have cut my wrists on two different occasions mot recently new years day and i got ten stitche out of the deal and was recomended to go to the local place for help and they had no answers accept to come back on thursday..... im scared im not gonna make it till then !? i need mental help
Jokermistique . . . please call your nearest Crisis Counseling Center as soon as possible. The "local place" you went for help should not have let you just go like that and told you to come back.
There is real help out there for people regardless of insurance and they should be able to get you to it.
Please keep us advised on how you are doing.

This can be a serious problem not to scare you but he should have a full colonoctopy to rule out any cancer or polyps....he may have an ulcer also..or it just may be an irritation to his digestive system an infection or sorts....but to be certain i think he should have those tests.
He now is scheduling an appointment to get a colonoscopy done, I believe this week.
