One time I played Mario Kart Double Dash while listening to The White Album. It was awesome.
Everyone should race through Wario Colosseum while cranking up Helter Skelter real loud at least once.

"China town" in the game "Mafia" is magnificant!
You got something against platformers?
I love the Mario RPGs because they always did mix platforming elements in there making them accessible for people who aren't necessarily into RPGs.
only when i'm gaming.
Now I'm not talking about the music for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 100000 or Burnout: Scottish HighlanRAB Expansion where the soundtrack is a collection of songs from existing artists.
I'm talking about the original stuff that get put in video games: Jesper Kyd, Frank Klepacki, the soundtracks for Morrowind and Oblivion. They were great mood setters, the last two even adapted the music depending on if you were exploring, being attacked by monsters, or just drinking in the virtual lanRABcape. These are things that don't just fall into the category of original soundtrack because unlike a film, a game has many variations at each stage. It puts you in the minRABet for it, it shapes the way you play, the energy you impart to it.
Who here agrees?
Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill OST is my favourite game soundtrack

Also enjoy the quiet and minimalist nature of the ICO soundtrack
Some of Kow Otani's stuff from the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack was awesome.
Terry S Taylor also did some great stuff for the Neverhood and Skullmonkeys soundtracks
Anyone here listen to video game music? Do you have any favorites?
Lots of retro stuff I see. I'm gonna break the cycle with Oblivion.

Reminiscient of LOTR or something
Yeah, music is a very important part of the gaming experience for me. I often find myself playing the same stages over and over just to hear the music.
Kōji Kondō is the 8 bit Mozart.
