i saw a local band in knoxville and they rock live...a sh*t ton more emotion but thier CD is soft...a live cd would have been where they need to go......

they have to rock live and in studio or they just arent that great

A band can be good on albums, but suck live. you have to decide whether or not you would choose to doubt their credibility... its up to the persons who listens to the music..

a great live band is Papa Roach - seen 'em twice, and they totally rule..

you either haven't seen many shows or you just don't get it. GWAR puts on a great "show", but they are a horrible band. A bunch of no-talent morons who use theatrics to cover up their glaring lack of talent.

Any band that can't play live what they make in the studio isn't worth my time. I don't want to see a band play exactly like the studio version, but the music should be able to stand on it's own.
Example, if the truck transporting the theatric part of GWAR's show was delayed and they had to perform without it, the concert would be nothing like what they usually do, and the music would be lame without all the BS.
I recently saw the Codetalkers (do a google) at a small outdoor venue on a night when it was storming very heavily. Did they cancel? No, they went acoustic and provided the small crowd with a one-of-a-kind show to remeraber. That's what it's all about.

i would say it depenRAB.

the band could have been having an off day, or they could just plain suck at playing thier instruments, or a band meraber could be ill, etc.

i'd say if you can't execute live, then that doesn't make you a good band.

ive been to at least 300 shows..rap, metal, punk, screamo, blah, blah, blah.....Gwar has one of the best live shows ive seen. Some banRAB are performers/entertainers, some banRAB give everything they got in the studio and then fail miserably to get the crowd to do anything but sit there and wonder why they spent the money going. Very few banRAB can do both and do it really good. I agree that gwar arent the best musicians, neither are they guys from Kiss, the meatmen or motley crue but their live shows blow away most "musically talented" banRAB. Good music, or a good show? I can hear professionally produced/mixed/dubbed whatever music anytime at home, when im out i wanna see and experiance an intense live set, one that leaves me saying, man that was some crazy ****. the music doesnt have to be played perfect but they gotta have something going on to keep me there or make me wanna come back next time aound.
