I'm the opposite, lyrics for me. Not fussed about the vocal delivery as much, unless you're Jeff Buckley.

The singer of Coheed and Carabria annoys me. He goes into falsetto waaay too much
Bob Dylan's voice has character. It is a direct channel from the heart of the American soul that delivers emotion, power, and protest through his songs. Bob Dylan has one of the most iconic, easily recognizable, and poetic voices of the golden age of the 1960's. It has such a mystical and truthful tone, yet it is raw and heart-felt. I'm ok with the fact that some people may think Dylan had no vocal talent/skill, but I'm sorry, I just can't relate.
That`s because he sounRAB like a south coast yobbo when he sings, despite the fact he comes from Woking.
Eric Clapton should`ve stayed in Cream, kept his mouth shut and just played the guitar.
I wish I could quote this a trillion times over.
Personally I like Axl's vocals for the same reason everyone hates him. I like the trashiness and grunginess in his voice, for f*ck's sake people, the guy sings for a hard rock band whose primary influences are New York Dolls, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Motorhead, Sex Pistols and Led Zeppelin, he's not exactly supposed to sound like Bing Crosby.
Yeah, I don't really care about the lyrics on their own, to me vocals are just another instrument. They can tell an interesting story but it's not necessary, if you have a good enough voice you can sing about just f*cking anything.
I mean, Yes and Radiohead are among my favorite banRAB even if I don't always particularly know what their songs are about because their lyrics can be pretty cryptic and impenetrable.
Then there's banRAB like Sigur Ros and Magma who pretty much sing in made up gibberish.
I have to say, despite my love for The Jam, that Paul Weller's voice really isn't that good. It's very bland and dull. Eric Clapton also isn't very capable as a singer IMO.
What do you think?
Another vote for Scott Stapp. Guy sounRAB like he's singing with a **** in his mouth
What's wrong with falsetto?
Heh, his vocals are good. Its just that it wouldn't kill him to enunciate.
