Thread: Why do some white people have to immerse themselves in other cultures? Is being...

...white that boring? I love diversity dont get me wrong. But there needs to be a realization that you can't try to totally immerse onself in a culture that you aren't really apart of.

Why at almost every Asian festival I have ever been to there are manily white performers?
I took several african dance classes that are made up of white women?

Last night I went to a concert celebrating black history month and 95% were all white and while the performer was talking about black struggles, the white people were looking around bewildered...they had no clue what he was talking about! Some were really disrepsectful and were laughing! And the minute I walked in people looked at me like I wasnt supposed to be there!

Have we lost interst in our own cultures that other people are teaching our culture for us?

I think it's mainly american culture, which really is cultureless if you think about it, compared to european ones. Those kids don't have an ethnic upbringing for say, since most white americans are mutts, so they just cling to whatever they can for dear life.

We're just there for the free food and entertainment actually.
