I just sold a 1949 Chevy from the state of Indiana to an individual in Nevada. When the buyer took it to his DMV, they said the VIN # on the title says the truck is a 1953 not a 1949. When I bought the truck and took it to my DMV, no problems and obviously gave me the title. The buyer's Nevada DMV told him that since it had never been registered in Nevada they could not look at the VIN # on the door, it had to be from the frame but they can't find it. Should there even be one on the frame?

Secondly, is this really my problem if my DMV obviously gave me the clear title?
mfan130- Nothing was switched to the best of my knowledge. When I bought it, it was not restored and was in really bad shape. When I changed the title to my name, nothing was said about the VIN # being different from a 1949.
