Hello,
I got pulled over for speeding in CA driving home from college and I didn't have any proof of insurance in the vehicle, violation 16028(a). I got the letter in the mail and it says it's a correctable violation.
Firstly, I wasn't on the insurance when I got pulled over but the car was insured under my parents name. Can this still be a correctable violation?
Second, on the letter it only has two options (which is stupid, it's almost like a trap). I either mail in the payment and proof of correctable violation and if they accept it they send a refund check(a chance they don't since my name wasn't on the insurance, just my parents) OR I can go to court but I have to plead Not Guilty. If I do that and go to court and they say MY name has to be under the insurance, I hear I may lose the chance for traffic school.
What should I do? This is stressful...Pay through the mail and risk it without being able to plea with the judge for a reduced payment, or go to court(the only option to have a trial is pleading NOT GUILTY) and risk losing traffic school privileges?
Thanks
