Why is it OK in the media and Pop culture to be religious and Black, but somehow Whites

Which religious whites are you referring to? If you are talking about the ones on the right like Pat Robertson, it's because they actually are as you describe. OTOH, if you ever got involved in any left issues like human rights you would find that a lot of religious leaders were deeply involved in that sort of politics. Sister Helen Prejean, to name one example.

I would imagine it's dependent on how the person conducts himself. There is a huge difference between Dr. King and Jimmy Swaggart.

I've never seen a Rabbi portrayed as a buffoon, uneducated anti-science hillbilly.

Most of the priests I've seen haven't been portrayed that way either...

Besides that, pop culture hasn't been all that kind to the black religious leaders either, nor has black folklore for that matter.
