debate? I need some help in explaining probability to a friend.

Here is the set up:

2 teams of 2 card players (team Dave & Charlie, and team Jon & Bob) are playing Spades. 13 cards are dealt to each player. If David looks at his 13 cards and does not see the Ace of Spades, what is the probability the other team has the Ace of Spades?

Outcomes:

The possible outcomes are: 1) Jon has the Ace, 2) Charlie has the Ace or 3) Bob has the Ace. If Jon or Bob has the Ace , then that team will capture the Ace.

Probabilities:

P(Jon) = 1/3 (13/39 cards)
P(Charlie) = 1/3 (13/39 cards)
P(Bob) = 1/3 (13/39 cards)

Since Jon & Bob are on the other team, the probability that the other team has the card is 1/3 + 1/3 = 2/3.

Simple, yes. My friend, however, thinks that ...

It is IMPOSSIBLE for both Jon & Bob to have the Ace so he can remove one of them from the equation. He believes that because this is a team game, the odds remain at 50/50 even though he doesn't have it!
