A dog stays a puppy till the age of two. If you want your dog to learn quickly and listen well it is best to teach him everything he needs to know to make him and you happy in your futur life together. And older dog is much harder to train it takes a lot longer and more patience and you need to work with them a lot more then with a puppy because as they get older they also get more stubborn and independant.
Personnally, I have had a lot of dogs ever since I'm young, I've seen dogs come in and out of my house, all young and old and i was never able to train and older dog to my liking as I was with a puppy. Once they hit two years old they have better be train.
I've also been told by two expereinced two trainer that you can rarely teach an older dog anything. You have to be very strict and almost always result in a sasd dog and a sad owner. It's not fun having to use a mad tone all the time with your dog and having your dog looking miserable.
People that say dogs can learn anything at any age are wrong. Dog trainers and vets would all tell you that the younger they are, the better it is.
So you might want to teach everything you want your dog to know now, before it's too late.
