western civilizations...religious conflicts and political conflicts?

select one european country as an example of how and why religious conflicts become so deeply entangled with political conflicts in the period from 1540 to 1660.

any help at all would be great!

    thanks!

England. Henry VIII's rule ended in 1547 after he had already broken from the church, and his son Edward upheld his Protestant views until Mary came to power in 1553 and tried to convert the country back to Catholicism. Then Elizabeth, starting in 1558, brought Protestantism back again, though unlike Mary, Elizabeth tried to be tolerant with people of other faiths.
