I have just now started talking to a recruiter and was wondering how long the process takes to go through the ASVAP and MEPS and finally get to Day 1 of Boot Camp. I was advised by family to go through BC in the winter not the summer.

I went to basic over the summer, we spent a lot of time in the A/C. I think summer is the best time to go because you get up and do PT and then do dorm set up and go to class. The PT wakes you. In the winter you do PT in the afternoon so you'd probably start class at 6 or 7 in the morning as opposed 8 or 9 in the summer. At any rate you're probably looking at January at the earliest.
You have enough time to change your mind. If I could go back, I'd go back in time and slash my tires before my 18 year old self could drive to the recruiters office.
it could be 2 months it could be 1 year it just depends on how much you bug you recruiter to get everything done. Don't Listen to the first poster, the military isn't for everyone and he's one of those people. If you want to do this do I wouldn't change a thing about my life in the Navy, well just one thing I'd still be in right now. good luck to you
Don't worry about AF basic, it is like summer camp,
they teach you how to tie a tie and shine your shoes,
salute, etc.
