    Bandwidth Issues ???

What should I expect for bandwidth when I use my Blackberry Pearl as a modem with my laptop?

Currently I have full EDGE signal, and getting around 56Kbps. Is this normal, or low? If it is low, how might I speed it up?

56k seems quite low. Lets see what the averages are for other stackers...

    Bandwidth Issues ???

Does anyone know of an online speed test other than dslreports.com/mspeed? When I try that one, it tells me "unstable/too fast a result" and requests that I try a larger file (this is with the 1MB file!)

you have to take into consideration that 2g and 3g aren't in the same league. EDGE isn't going to give you near the same output as EVDO would. You are expected to hit around 90-100kbps at best.

If you have plans to tether frequently and require faster speeds, I'd suggest looking into Sprint or Verizon for a 3g solution.

    Bandwidth Issues ???

To clarify, my test was run with the Pearl by itself, not using it as a modem.
