Kyreth what your talkin bout isnt anime but an american cartoon.the 2nd 1 i only recall because of the phoienix bit but i believe it was called Conan the Barbarian or something along those lines

About 10 years back I used to watch a Mecha anime, which I loved. I have suddenly remember it and have decided to search for it in hopes that I'll get to see it again (I bet it's considered terrible, but hey, I was 7 years old).

Now, I don't remember much of it, but here's what I DO remember:

The main character's mecha looked like either a tiger or lion, I'm not sure. Also, there were these two smaller mecha (one for the good guys and one for the bad) which were considered very powerful (or something like that), I think they were rarely used, but the people who piloted them sort of merged with them (not completely, but I think it was like that) from time to time.

Vague, I know, but if anyone has an idea what I'm talking... please, please help me, it's really driving me crazy.

I was presented with the option of "Voltron", but I want to make sure that it is really that. Does it meet exactly with the description?

2k Dav I think you and I are looking for the same anime. I tried Voltron and got no luck. Does the idea of the two smaller mecha joining up at the last episode and creating a power supply for a ship make sense? Also the Princesses main advisor piloting the evil smaller Mecha and the main hero piloting the good guys mecha (he originally piloted the Tiger). Also he uses his dagger which changes green to summon the mecha.

I didn't see it to the end, but the other part is exactly like I remember (with the main advisor piloting the smaller mecha and the main hero piloting the other one), so I think that we ARE looking for the same anime.
