data, am i doing this right? Hi guys. I am measuring whether or not maritime-transport costs affect GDP growth rates for 25 countries.

I already have data on an annual basis like so

1980 Variable X1... Variable Y1
1981 Variable X2... Variable Y2
1982 Variable X3... Variable Y3

Now I know how to input these into powerpoint and using the insert chart function, i can get all the data onto a scatter-plot graph to chart the relationship. And because the graph is downward sloping, i generally conclude there is an inverse relationship. But is that all there is to it?? Don't i need to use mathematics to sound like a nerd?

Does this qualify as "Regression analysis"? I ask because i have used ZERO mathematics or any formulas... I dont think I am using enough maths... (probably why im a cool economist in training ha ha jk)/

I don't know how to do a chart that talks about whether my results are "statistically significant" with numbers like ***(0.1 significant) etc coz i don't know what it means.

Is there a webpage anyone can recommend to teach me this stuff?

Cheers
