The Official Live-Action "Cowboy Bebop" News & Discussion Thread

You know who should play Jet? Thomas Haden Church.

His voice is similar, he's around 50 now, (Jet looks about 50) he got
in-shape for Spider-Man 3, so he definitely has the right build for him too.

All he neeRAB to do is dye his hair black. I know Jet is bald in the show, but I think I can live with him having hair if Church plays the
    role.

Teaser trailer: should be a live-action recreation of Tank!

I know people would be intrigued by that.

Does anyone still have a link to that terrible old live action Bebop short? The one that looked like it was a college project?

The Official Live-Action "Cowboy Bebop" News & Discussion Thread

You haven't answered my question, I'm asking your opinion on matter, there is no right or wrong answer per say.

Hmmm, even though its too early judge, (there have only two Hollywood Manga movies that have made it to production so far) I would say its way easier to make movies out of comics, then manga.

This has to do with differences between comics and manga in terms of storytelling and ascetics. Comic books have a more realistic look too them, the characters look like people in tights, manga characters are very stylized, they tend to look very different from normal people, that makes one of those easier to cast then the others. Plus comic books are based on American characters, there are no cross cultural issues to deal with, most manga characters are supposed to be Japanese, but don't look very Asian. That again makes casting a nightmare. Plus there is the issue adaptability, otakus are much more rigid then comic book fans when it comes to adapting something to big screen, comic book fans are used to their being more then one version of the character vs. otakus who read the manga version and then will complain about every change, no mater how slight.

Now you said live action lives are costly, that is true, but look at the rewarRAB they produce when done well, lots of money for the studios and good movies for the public. the question is, can this same formula work for manga in Hollywood.
