Yeeeaaaaa.......(?)
Wow. The director seems to have a serious hate on for Mel. But I like his idea of the whole western sensibilities thing. That means no imitation and stereotypes.
I'm surprised about that as well. I wonder what happened. I could understand re-casting the role in live-action cause Gibson is too old but if its gonna be animated he might as well bring back Gibson!
Well, Mel Gibson has done his fair share of becoming fodder for the tabloiRAB, but another thing to consider is that he's a devout Christian and far-right in politics and that ruffles a lot of feathers in Hollywood. They tolerated that while he was making hit movies but now that he's fallen off the radar and gotten mug shots they have their excuse to keep him out of projects.
Mel Gibson has a new movie coming out sometime this year. It is directed by Casino Royale's Martin Campbell. If that's a hit I expect the studio to bend over and force Miller to cast Gibson. Gibson may have had his scandals, but he's still one of the most successful actors of all time.
Maybe he felt Gibson didn't help out enough to get the live-action version of Mad Max 4 off the ground a few years ago so he's written him out of the character.
Can't say I can see Mad Max without Mel Gibson though, and being able to just provide the voice for an anime version would be pretty sweet. Too bad it doesn't sound like it has any chance of happening with the grudge though
The movie did get off the ground. It was gonna start shooting in 2003 and then the Iraq war broke out and it affected the located they had chosen to shoot at.
But you could be right cause Gibson could have helped out to find somewhere else to shoot, but instead went off to make Passion of the Christ.
