That's another annoying M$-ism that's virtually impossible to get rid of.
It can be fixed on a fresh install though. My previous laptop had c:/usr
instead of c:/Program Files and c:/home instead of c:/Documents and
Settings. Cost me a few hours after the initial install, but it proved
that it could be done. Not really worth the effort though.

Similarly annoying was when 'My Accounts' tabs appeared with the n-th
revamp of some local bank's internet banking offering. If those aren't my
accounts they better shouldn't have let me access them. Maybe I wasn't the
only one writing sarcastic emails to support@, two revamps later it became
    'Accounts' again.

I don't recall saying that the *only* reason I have a passport is to
visit relatives; I have used it for that purpose certainly, but I've
also used it sometimes to go on vacation elsewhere in the world - where
I have no relatives whatsoever. And in my husband's case - he uses his
passport for business travel regularly. And if he is away somewhere and
thinks it would be a nice place to add a few days holiday to the trip,
the fact that both I and the kidlette have passports and can join him
at almost a moment's notice can be quite convenient.

Furthermore I was not criticizing anybody for not having relatives
outside of the USA, that's just a another figment of your overactive
imagination; I simply pointed out that having a passport might come in
handy for those who *do* have relatives outside of the USA if there
were a death of a family member and the funeral was being
    held "overseas", for example.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure *you* have a passport (unless you've managed to
sneak in and out of places like Britain/Europe and China without one)
which would make you one of the 28% of USA citizens that chooses to
travel abroad sometimes. More power to you.

Your testimonial (and a few others) only proves that there is a person
closely resembling this mugshot, who wanders around the USA claiming to be
Blake Murphy. But would any investigator worth his/her salt take that as
absolute proof, unless it was backed up by a drivers license, and a check
with their local DMV to verify the authenticity of said document?

And if I was said investigator, I'd still be leery - after all there are
no (recent) photos on birth certificates, which I believe is all that is
required to prove who one allegedly is to the DMV when applying for a
drivers license. Same goes for passport applications, last I heard.
Furthermore, unless "blake" has been under criminal investigation at some
point, his finger prints won't be on record anywhere either.

I'm in mid-country, too. I just went to delta.com to see what it
would cost to fly to Los Angeles, stay a week, and come home,
planning a month ahead. The fare was at least $288. (Additional
baggage charges may apply, they said. I imagine if I stayed
a week, I'd be hit up for extra baggage.) Las Vegas, even
    though it's closer, costs $317.

New York to LA is $278. Apparently airline pricing is not
    rational.

I might be able to save some money by using a different
airline or airport, but for this exercise, that's enough data.

When I rule the world, they're going to have to figure out
how much it costs per passenger-mile, and base their
    fares on that.

Heh. My esteemed relative moaned about the fact that although my Aunt
had two bathrooms upstairs (both with bathtubs, toilets and mixer
    taps/faucets) only one bathroom had a built-in shower-stall - which
meant (because my Aunt had a house-full of guests at the time) he had
to sometimes "queue" to take his morning shower. Oh, and the guest
toilet downstairs was "too cramped" for his liking as well. Heh, as the
old saying goes, you can choose your friends, but not your relatives.

I enjoyed the food while I was there too. My Aunt is a pretty good cook
and the restaurants we ate out at also served pretty good fare.
