It's an awesome Canadian cartoon show that ran from 1985 to 1992 which made it Canada's most popular and longest running cartoon, it's sort like the furry answer to "The Simpsons".

I remember and have a dvd set of them. Great show.
Your longest running cartoon is only 7 years, wow. Besides that, never heard of it, what's it about?
Great show but not the furry answer to the simpsons.
where did you get a dvd?
Here's the website everybody always links to when talking about the show:

Actually that's not bad considering that apart from primetime hits like the Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy and South Park, most animated shows in both the US and Canada only run about 2-5 seasons. Sure, nowadays seven seasons isn't too impressive, but it's not really that low either. I'm not sure that it really is the longest-running Canadian cartoon anyway. One thing that is fairly notable about it is that it was done completely in Canada as opposed to being sent overseas, and that it aired in primetime for most of its original run-- before the Simpsons! Gasp!!!!!11...
Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the show. I've got both the DVD sets, and I'm a member of the Yahoo group for it, where over half the series has now been found/uploaded online! My favourite aspects of the series are the music, voice acting and the watercolour backgrounds.
Yeah, to clarify for those who haven't seen it-- despite the above comparisons with the Simpsons, it's more family-oriented, and the writing isn't as sophisticated. It's really more of a kids' show. About the DVDs, there were two sets with 9 episodes each, from the second and third seasons respectively. I believe they were Canadian-only releases. In September (I think) there's a British release of the complete first season coming out, which I hope gets released here as well.
I remember that show. I was at a point where I was young and I didn't know what was really going on.
However that show had one hell of a closing theme song. If there's one thing I loved about that show, it was that.
Canada would never make another cartoon that was as good as The Raccoons, that is until they made Untalkative Bunny.
Yes, I remember watching it at least a few times as a kid. There was that main raccoon, that male and female raccoon, and that aardvark(?) and his son. I don't remember much else, I'm sure if I saw a clip of the opening or something, it would all come back.
I have never seen it, but I have heard of it.
Yeah, like other posters here I can just about remember it, though very little of what it was all about. Didn't it have a pink dude chomping a cigar?
