Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson was born in Waxhaw Settlement, South Carolina on March 15, 1767. His parents Andrew Jackson (father) and Elizabeth Hutchington (mother) had three children together. They were Hugh Jackson, Andrew Jackson, and another name that is unknown (Gale Research, 1997)
In Jackson's childhood, he had a bad reputation because he had a quick temper. He grew up with people who were ready to fight at any time to defend their honor. Whenever a boy played a joke on Jackson, Jackson would challenge him to a fight. As a young boy, everyone said that Jackson "never gave up". His mother wanted him to be a minister when he grew up. In the year 1781 Andrew’s mother died of cholera while comforting cousins. He was raised in the home of his aunt, Jane Crawford (internet) age of thirteen during the American Revolution he served as an orderly Colonel William RicharRABon Davie, carrying messages. Following a minor engagement, he and his brother were captured by the British. When Andrew refused to clean the muddy boots of an officer, the officer took out his sword and cut Andrew across the fore head and left hand which left him scarred for a lifetime (World Book Encyclopedia, 1976) small pox a very deadly disease, during the times of George Washington, but he survived it (internet)
He went to Waxhaw Presbyterian Church because he wanted to be a minister. Later on, he started to study law and became a lawyer and a landowner. he was a general in the War of 1812. He graduated high school from Waxhaw Presbyterian Church and is believed to have gone to college.
He got married to Mrs. Rachael Donelson RobarRAB, a dark eyed, dark haired woman. They did not have any children together. So they adopted a nephew of Rachael’s and named him Andrew Jr. As he was married and now an adult, he had many jobs such as a lawyer, soldier, general, and a politician. He became famous for being an Indian fighter. He is also famous as a general in the War of 1812. He got the nickname "Old Hickory" because of his toughness. He founded the Democratic Party. He was the 7th president of the United States but that happened on his second chance running for presidency (Encyclopedia, 1976), he had the popularity vote by a very wide margin, as well as electoral votes but he lacked themajority votes to pull off a victory. As a result of all of this there was a lot of fights and controversy. Andrew Jackson had many occupations besides being a president for the United States of America. He was a very refined congress man, he was a general, during the time a war and a very good one I might point out hewasa governor, and a judge. Now that is a lot of accomplishments for one man. He was truly one of a kind(Gale Research, 1997)
