Myself and a few friends are going to begin a campaign to have that smokestack demolished. It is hideous and looms over our entire campus. It is better known as the "Drexel Shaft" as it is best seen from Drexel University's campus.

The building below it is enormous, it is an old abandonned RR powerplant. Its a pretty solid structure made from stone. The smokestack is about 200 feet high made of brick. It is smack in the middle of a working Amtrak railyard, which is the biggest problem, and its filled with asbestos.

Do you think a controlled demolition would be able to bring the smokestack down. How much do you think it would cost (including asbestos removal)? Were trying to figure out how to approach amtrak with our proposal to initiate a fundraising effort to have it demolished.a
