There was a comedian in college today and one of his jokes was 'Looking forward to the French spin-off version of Lost'. I was the only one who didn't get the gag. What does it mean? Cheers.

He was joking about the real life Air France tragedy that is similar to Lost's storyline. I hate "jokes" about real life tragedies, especially recent ones...
He's referring to the air france disaster. Its the same situation as the tv series lost were people get stranded on an island after a plane crash except everyone on the airfrance plane died.
RIP
Idk.. the 1st group that crash landed were french. (Alex's mom, the woman who had the radio transmission going in French)
George: I thought Spin-offs were new shows based on old ones... like NCIS is a spin-off of JAG. Not just a dubbed reshowing of the same show.
French spin off's are usually an episode of lost in french, but with edited subtitles, for instance, if jack turned around and shouted out "LETS GET OUT OF HERE" in french, they might translate it to, "GET ME A FUCKING BANANA" in the subtitles.
