The name of a book or show that had a sausage fall behind a couch or drawers and then...

...grows and becomes alive? I'm thinking it is a child's book of some sort or program and I'm sure it actually exists, but need help remembering. The sausage, I'm pretty sure it was a sausage, is discarded behind something and then becomes alive and grows, and I think in the end he is eaten by a dog..

YES! I've been looking for this book for ages! It really freaked me out when I was a kid, but I can't for the life of me remember the name or author. So frustrating!
