Thread: Harley Davidson question?

I have a 2005 XL 1200C. I took it down the highway about 6 miles and it ran fine. When I got off the highway it started to backfire through the carb everytime I would take off from a stop. I have to feather the throttle to get up some rpm to get it to take off. It idles OK and once I'm running it seems to be fine. Any ideas??? Ignition maybe?
It has 10500 miles on it and was just in for a tune up about 250 miles ago. Gassed up just last week.

Backfire through carb indicates rich condition, backfire through exhaust too lean.

Buy a fuel injected Victory it won't do that. Then you can stop posting questions on how to become a mc mechanic to keep your bike running. What a concept !
