uk if you found a gun somewhere could you keep it?

theres a bunker in the middle of knowhere near my house

    (i live in the countryside)

and me and my friend were looking around with metal detectors and we both found some stuff like buttons

and i found what appears to be a rifle of some sort

i want to clean it up see if i can restore it

is it ok for me to keep it or do i have to go to the police
btw the gun is in no working order

    its not a modern gun

it seems like ww1 or 2 era

    its all rusty and stuff

    no chance of being fired

take it to the police, be careful though, it ,may have been used in a murder and you could get your fingerprints on it.

Yeah your probably better off taking it to the police....I hate the police, but it could get you in a load of sh*t if you don't take it, then they find it on you, because you don't have licence.
And also, this could have been used in anything!! Robbery, Muggin, Murder- you never know!!

So just to be on the safe side hand it back in!! You don't wanna get sent to jail for something....jus because you found a gun!!x

You're not allowed to keep it. You need a gun license to own a gun in the UK and only then under strict regulations. Hand it in or you could end up getting arrested for possesing a dangerous weapon.

You should definitely hand it in. As unlikely as it might be, it's possible it was the weapon used in a crime and could be the evidence needed to prosecute someone.

it's better to take it to the police because it could have been used in a murder. But if u don't want to turn in make sure u scrape off the serial numbers.

Keeping firearms in the UK without a licence is against the law. I personally wouldn't do it and besides what if the gun is in a bad condition and could go off without warning and hurt you or your friend. It's a nice idea to want to restore it but it would be better to hand it in to the police I'm afraid.
