Can you Use every day plastic things in a fishtank as ornaments?

I have just bought a 60 litre tank and i don't have any money left over so i was wondering if you could use plastic objects found around the house e.g doll house furniture?

If it waterproof, then yes. Should be okay for Fresh and Salt water. If it has sharp edges, better think twice if you have fast swimming fish for they may hurt themselves.
