Fall 2009 HD channel number changes

I spoke to a Bell representative today while touring the facilities. He told me there currently was no date for removing the stations in the 800's so you don't have to worry about updating your timers and favourites list for some time yet.

    Answer to # 3.

True you night have to punch in 4 digits, but thats no different having to dial a persons area code first when making a call. In due time you'll get use to it.

Or press menu, 6,1,1 for point dish. That will tell you which bird and transponder.

I agree. However, your example is ironic.

Looks like they added 2 more NHL HD feeds. I think there were only 4 before??

Main floor & bedroom TV's are both SD.. with years of using the same channels i know that 400 is TSN.. 405 is Sportsnet, 212 is CTV ect.. when i hit the 800's i know TSN is 850 but sportsnet always confuses me cause its off somewhere below TSN where as on the SD channel line up its above..

It would be nice to just have the HD feeds but thats going to be years away. Look at the amount of time its taking just to convert ppl from analog to digital signals. Can't imagine a full SD to HD switch over within the next 5 to 10 years unless its setup as a dual channel. But doing that would mean they couldn't double charge you for SD and HD..

I don't like that idea. I record my shows in SD because my wife says she can't tell the difference (Crazy I Know). However I record my shows in HD. This saves me a tonne of room on my PVR....It would not work If everything defaulted to HD.

BTW I have a 9200 so I can't add an external HD for more space

I think you are a little confused on what remapping means in this situation. Dish shows BOTH channels, i.e. 225 (SD) 225 (HD) and one above the other on HD capable systems and with the 622/722 two TV units it defaults to the type of system you are viewing on (TV1 to HD channel and TV2 to SD channel).

They all have the same number (HD and SD). This would not affect what you get on your backfed SD tv.

How will this affect scheduled PVR recordings when the 800-channels eventually dissapear? Should I start updating everything now or will it automatically figure things out?
