Yesterday, T-Mobile USA announced its second quarter results. The company had 613,000 net customer additions for the quarter, which was actually down from the second quarter of last year, which saw 972,000 net additions. On a better note, the company seems to be successful in shifting its customer base to longer relationships.
Revenue for the company was up 18% compared to last year, resulting in US$3.6 billion in service revenue.
T-Mobile USA will be a company to watch for the next few years. It has a strong BlackBerry business, which now surpasses 800,000 users. Also, its move to longer contracts will put the company more in line with its competitors such as Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and Cingular. It will be interesting to see what T-Mobile USA looks like by the end of the year.
