    Glad I checked...

I thot the shaft drive on me C-50 was sounding strange.
The bike has been kind of acting different this past few rides.

I changed out oil and filter yesterday, but didn't get around to the rear drives gear oil till today...

The case was pretty close to MT
I put some 85\90W back in there.
Sure hope the rear gears aren't on their way to being done because of this...

A dry pumkin in a car don't last too long.

Glad I pulled the drain plug.

Is it still under warranty ? I would get it checked ASAP, hate to be the bearer of bad news but if it acted different on the last few rides then you probably did some damage. Did you drain the rear? It has a magnetic plug if you found or find any metal pieces then that would be proof.

    Mmmmm,
Well the bike isn't acting worse.
    The noise is less.

I dunno where the oil went, there is some oily grime on the wheel.
I have know idea whether that's from leakage.

Are the metric bikes shipped to the US dry?
I'm thinking our Suzuki dealer may have forgotten something.

I think I'll trailer the bike back to them Tuesday for a going over.
875 miles on the bike as of right now...

The oily grime on the rear wheel is all I needed to here. There is an oil seal on the final drive unit, where the splines come out of the drive unit and engage the wheel. This seal was most likely not installed correctly or was nicked or otherwise damaged during assembly. For goodness sake don't drive it anymore- get it back to the dealer ASP.

Things like this are why I always tell people to have the dealer do the 600 mile service, and to do it right at the 600 mile mark. A dirty real wheel is an instant tip off to the inspecting mechanic that the shaft drive is leaking.

Oh well, too late for that now. They will change the seal and inspect everything. If it still make any noise after this, make them replace the drive. If it seems OK and passes inspection, make sure you get and retain documentation about the repair, so if you have any problems later you can show that the problem started with an assembly error or bad seal.

And I amongst others made sure I had plenty of oil in my final drive last night.

I know you don't like to hear it when it's you, but Always safer to check!

    Glad I checked...

We hauled the bike back to the dealer today after work.
It looks like a warranty replacment of the final drive.

Groovy thing is we'll have the bike back Thursday, not bad I thought.
The folks who sold me this bike are one of the better places in Northern Utah (plug-plug)...
