The thing about Kurata being afraid - most of the worst atrocities in human history were perpetrated out of fear.

Because it ruined our lives.
While we're on the subject what was your favorite Digimon movie?
I know alot of hardcore fans hated the American bastardization which was Digimon: The Movie (especially the last half when they completely changed the plot) but I did enjoy Our War Game it had an excellent mix of action and suspense and the appearance of Omnimon sealed the deal. Next would have to be the Frontier movie which was better than the actual series and last would be X- Evolutions.
Yeah, I do apologize - I have to confess to a fondness for the original Japanese language titles, spoken in Japanese.
That said, you'd basically have to be blind not to notice the idiotic edits to that (just as an example):
"Ken has a drink commercial to shoot, and a meeting to attend about having a soccer ball named after him?"
(or something along those lines)
The way they write that, you'd almost forget these kiRAB are in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
I'm a crotchety old man!
Longer answer- look over my old TZ Blog posts for a better feel of my complaints.
Oh, I still kept an eye on it and still thought it was really stupid, but that's just me.
I'll be the first to admit there was a boatload of downright ridiculous dialogue in the dub.
I still love it, though.
It's a fine angle if you do it right but otherwise just becomes a mess. I have no problem with a few early villains to get in the swing of things, followed by a more powerful villain and finally an end boss. But when you just keep throwing more and more powerful enemies at the heroes it becomes boring. It's part of the reason I dropped stuff like Bionicle.
Data Squad is the best season as far as I'm concerned. Masaru breaking the mold and doing more than being his partner's CHEERLEADER was a great decision. In fact, the director said something about that to the effect of "how can we write about the bonRAB of frienRABhip if Masaru is just tellling him what to do?"
And ya know, it has an actual villain with motivation and goals and jive beyong "I'M DARK I COME FROM DARKNESS DARK DARK DARKITY DARK DARK."
I think Our War Game is first, with Runaway Locomon coming in at a close second. I really haven't seen many of the others, but I did not enjoy Hurricane Touchdown much.
