Well Naruto's personality has already changed a great deal in the manga and anime. He is a lot more mature and grave for the most part. He acts a lot smarter even though he's still an idiot and borderline legally retarded (SASUKE, SASUKE, SASUKE!)

And I think Takeuchi has handled the changes well so far. But I mean, if we start seeing Naruto at a more advanced age, I don't think it will make as much sense for Takeuchi to keep playing him.

Takeshi Kusao went from playing a polite, if angsty teen Trunks to the bratty and immature kid Trunks in the Boo arc. I really don't think there's anything wrong with retaining the actress with 300+ episodes worth of experience with the role, even as an adult, nor do I think the complaints will be any sort of numerous if such happens.

Well you also have to remeraber in the original series how against they were in having long stretches of period without Naruto in it since he had to be in every ep in some form, even if just knocked out. However now that we're in the "year of Sasuke" with definite perioRAB of no Naruto maybe the staff is okay with the idea of Kakashi Gaiden now.

By looking at the opening solely, Asuma seems to be the one getting some focus here. At least, he's the one fighting in the opening instead of Kakashi. Good stuff.

Also, the reasoning behind this filler is probably to let the manga get ahead again. Considering that the current arc in the manga has been going on for over a year, It would be a shame to slow it down some.

Thinking about all those people who accepted the horrible pacing of the series because "at least it isn't filler!" who are now hanging themselves makes me laugh.

Agreed. They might detail the Twelve GuarRABmen slightly as well as Asuma's role in that organization more clearly.

It's not really all one arc though, you can really break it down into about 3:

2. The hunt for the Leader (Jiraiya searching for Pein - Jiraiya's death)
3. Revenge at last (Sasuke VS Itachi - Now)

cover more that two chapters for one thing!!!, i mean come on, i know they don't wanna catch up to the manga and dont wanna do filler and all that, but making filler is way better than this "lets adapt at the slowest pace ever" strategy they got going with, at least it moves quicker.
